The Nordstrom anniversary sale is a hot item flooding Instagram this year, am I right? I will admit I participated, but primarily only for essentials I am in need for. I invested in reasonably priced everyday closet staples that were good quality. I am currently trying to down size my closet to be a more curated closet with classic and staple pieces I can utilize in many ways.
Below is what I purchased:
A perfect work appropriate or formal skirt. Every gal needs a nice black A-line skirt in her closet.
Crepe A-Line Skirt by CeCe
A great layering turtleneck. These are perfect for traveling to colder weather climates. Additionally, since I live in the south these are perfect for our winter (or lack there of) to be layered with cardigans and so on.
Layering Turtleneck by Chelsea 28
The exact same as above, but in black. Like I said I was going with practical this year and staple wardrobe pieces. You can always use a neutral and black turtleneck. I wish I could have found white as well.
Layering Turtleneck by Chelsea 28
This piece struck me because of the color, soft rock, I loved it. Additionally, it is a great staple piece that can be worn casually or dressed up with the right pieces. Plus it is lightweight for Texas fall/winter.
Thermal Henley Top by Socialite
Seriously, who doesn’t need a staple bootie for fall and winter? I was in dire need of a brown pair since my only pair is western. I really wanted to snatch the black pair of these as well.
Dalphine Bootie by Sole Society
I grabbed this black turtleneck too because I was intrigued by it only being elbow length. Again, I live in a state that doesn’t get much of a fall/winter.
Elbow Sleeve Turtleneck Top by TopShop $15.90
This dress caught my eye right away. I didn’t have any plans on a dress, but I let this one slip in because I love the style. Although a seasonal color, Balsam Green, it seems like a very functional dress for weddings, baby showers, and work with the right cardigan or blazer.
Misty Asymmetrical Dress by O’Neill
I loved it so much I put both colors in my cart. I am always a sucker for soft tones and this Deauville Mauve called my name. I will see which color I like best when they arrive.
Misty Asymmetrical Dress by O’Neill
A perfect shift dress for work attire, casual wear, or events with the right accessories. It looks a tad short pictured, but I am hoping it won’t be when it arrives.
I love Zella work out pants and have recently started getting some of the crop pants. These crop pants caught my eye right away with their feminine dotted mesh. They are also cooler for hot days in Texas with mesh almost covering the entire back of the leg.
So Stunning Crop Leggings by Zella
Last, but not least. I love a comfortable v-neck tee that can be worn casually or with a nice cardigan or blazer. This color, brown cattail, is unique and I do not own anything remotely close to it. I love mixing camel colors and black so this was a perfect find.
Raw Edge V-Neck Tee by BP
This was not originally in my cart, but I went back for it after another blogger shared it. This is a very versatile piece that can be worn to work, weddings, showers, and for dat night. It hits all the marks & is affordable. I also do not own a jumpsuit.
Belted Jumpsuit by ASTR the label
These leggings go added to the cart later in the day as well. I won’t be keeping both since they are so similar in color to the ones above, but I wanted to give both a try.
Street Style High Waist Leggings by Zella
Last pair I added to the cart, I swear! What can I say I love Zella leggings & I wear them every week for my workouts and while I travel. I won’t keep all of them though since they are all a similar color palette.

These are items I have purchased in past sales (or similar to those items):
Listed from left to right as pictured (or click on photo for name)
CozyChic Lite Circle Cardigan by Barefoot: super soft & always a hot item during #Nsale
Mixed Stitch Long Cardigan by Carlson: long cardigans are always popular
Ryder Cardigan by Madewell: I have a feeling this will sell out this year
Long Open Front Cardi by TOPSHOP: a nice looking, trendy cardigan, very affordable
Ribbed Shawl Cocoon Sweather by Leith: a great light weight cardigan for Texas
These are items I would have gotten if my closet & budget allowed:
Fringe Detail Cardigan by Hinge: I love the neutral color, but sassy detail
Ribbed Cashmere Vest by Halogen: I got one similar last year in grey, adore this color
Wubby Fleece Pullover: it looks so comfy & their pieces were popular last year
Felt Panama Hat by Treasure&Bond: I loved the brown on pictured, but not available
Trench Coat with Vest by 1901: I need a good trench coat, but it is not a high priority
Genuine Rabbit & Fox Fur Vest by Love Token: most Texas girls own one
Sleek Knit Midi Dress by Leith: versatile piece, and I think it will sell out
I was also looking for a moto-jacket, but haven’t found one I love.
A few items I have purchased since my initial post:
Sweater Tank by Leith: I have been in need of a good nude tank top. This one is high quality and very versatile. It can be worn with blazers, cardigans, denim & skirts.
A-Line Suede Skirt by BLANKNYC: In my opinion every girl needs a leather skirt. Myself included. I attend the rodeo (it’s a month long in Houston) every year and this piece will definitely get utilized for that, date nights, and ladies night out.
Lace Trim Satin Cami by BP: A great staple and versatile piece. These can be worn in so many ways. I have one in black and in olive. So a light neutral is the missing piece.
Raw Edge V-neck by BP: After seeing this color on others. I really liked it and realized I don’t have any tee’s in the shade. I know I get wear and use out of my basic tees.
Live In High Waist Leggings by Zella: I swear by my Zella leggings and truly wear them to work out, run errands, and lounge so they get used often. I had just told a Nordstrom associate the other day I wish I had them in Navy. Wish granted!
Moonlight Shortie Pajamas by Nordstrom: To be honest, I do not sleep in pajamas like this at home. However, when I go on trips or vacation with others I always wish I had cute & comfortable pajamas I know I can pack easily. Hoping these will fill that void.
I know that even on sale most of these items are out of several peoples budgets. Myself being one of them at times. So please always remember to plan accordingly and know what you need for your wardrobe so that you do not over spend. Finances are important. I will share a post tomorrow of what I would have purchased if I could have splurged.
As always please let me know in the comments below if you have any questions. I would also love to hear what you purchased or plan on purchasing this year.
XoXo,
Nici
